BWA SATELLITE COLLECTION
Expanding Access, Enriching Communities: The Brandywine Workshop and Archives Satellite Collection Program
At Brandywine Workshop and Archives (BWA), we believe art has the power to connect, inspire, and transform communities. Through our Satellite Collection Program, we activate our mission beyond our walls by facilitating gifts or purchases of prints produced by artists-in-residence at Brandywine to museums and colleges and universities nationwide. These collections feature original, fine art works on paper by artists who embody BWA’s commitment to innovation, inclusion, enriching the dialogue and artistic excellence.
Designed to bridge gaps in collections and provide access to a wide range of artists, including artists traditionally underrepresented by the canon, the program supports museums, universities, and cultural centers helping them expand their holdings. Recipient institutions partner with BWA through a thoughtful selection process which includes a visit by the institution’s curator or art historian to choose fine art prints from our Collection that align with their community’s needs and vision. By placing these works in new contexts, we ensure that the stories, techniques, and voices represented in BWA’s Collection spark dialogue and creativity, fulfilling our mission to make art a means to connect, inspire and build bridges among global communities and foster creative expression through collaboration and processes that employ traditional print making techniques and new technologies.
