General Internships for College Students

Currently we are not taking taking new applicants.

Internships are provided for undergraduate and graduate level students attending a local college or university.

Preference is given to art majors, but those studying in a related field may apply to work in exhibition planning, digital archives, art management, and the visiting artists program.

General Internships for High School Students

The high school Internship program involves paid summer and after-school internships for students to explore STEAM* learning.

Potential candidates should be students that are following an art-focused path in high school with the intention or a curiosity to pursue an art-related degree in college.

Studio Institute

Studio Institute is our main funder for Junior and Senior, undergraduate college internships.

Summer internships run 9 weeks, June-August

Winter internships

Since 1999, Studio Institute’s Arts Intern program has provided early-career opportunities for skilled college students interested in museum careers, who may otherwise lack access to such vital experiences without this opportunity.

Arts Intern places undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need and from diverse backgrounds in paid internships that can impact their career paths in profound and lasting ways.

In addition, the program includes an educational component that gives interns face-to-face interactions with seasoned professionals across the field, increasing students’ knowledge of and connection with museums and cultural institutions.

Drexel University

Drexel University offers matriculated students cooperative education (Co-op) opportunities.

Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter co-op terms are available through Drexel’s Steinbright Career Development Center.

Co-op, short for cooperative education, is a program that balances classroom theory with periods of practical, hands-on experience prior to graduation. Through the co-op program, students are able to alternate academic study with full-time employment, gaining practical experience in their field of study.

Drexel University has been a pioneer in cooperative education since 1919 – operating one of the largest cooperative education programs in the nation. Over 1650 business, industrial, governmental, and other institutions “cooperate” with Drexel in offering students the opportunity to acquire practical experience in employment related to college studies. Drexel students also have the opportunity to explore research, national and international co-op experiences.
